牛津大学的经济学硕士怎么样？
1. 课程质量：Taught by OX's own professors with access to some of the best minds in economics (a few of whom have won Nobel Prizes). Lectures are extremely well-prepared and cover a wide range of topics relevant for both macro and micro. Class size is smaller than what I am used to at top US and European universities， so you really get to know your peers as well as tutors/professors. There isn't much time for socialising but we do have seminars once every week or two that provide an opportunity to mingle with new people.
2. Teaching approach： The course is taught through a mixture of lectures and tutorials. Tutorials are small groups (around 8-10 students) where we discuss the readings for the week ahead of the lecture. Each session starts with brief introductions from each tutor on their areas of expertise followed by a more freeform discussion of ideas put forth by participants. Participation in tutorials is essential since they involve a lot of active thinking and there aren't any exams if you can't contribute to class discussions. For me， this was probably my favourite part of the course. Lecture content is very high level - you will not find detailed derivations of models here. If you need a deeper understanding of theories and statistical tools， go to another department。 Oxford economics is very theory driven. You will be introduced to ideas like rational choice， optimisation， game theory etc. and learn how to use mathematical models to understand economic phenomena. Statistics is only taught passively in a couple of courses rather than being integrated throughout the curriculum. But don't worry about statistics – most materials can be understood without having prior knowledge of stochastic processes.
3. Course structure： Economics consists of 6 main courses（5 taught， 1 research）plus 4 elective courses that you choose depending on the track you want to pursue（macro， micro， development， international）， all of which carry equal weight towards the final degree. Your final assessment is based on a 7000 word dissertation that you conduct on topic of your interest under one of our tutors’ supervision. Dissertations
